Fire engine ride experience...

Make your visit extra special by experiencing a ride in one of our functional fire engines. Climb aboard and get a feel for what it’s like for firefighters attending an incident! Grab your helmet and experience our imitation sirens as the engine leaves the museum’s cobbled yard and makes its way around the streets of Sheffield.

Saturday & Sunday (unless stated otherwise)

11:00, 13:00 and 15:00

£2.00 per person (additional to admission. No pre-booking required.)

It should be noted that this experience takes place on-board a moving, functional vehicle which leaves the building and returns so all necessary precautions must be taken. All passengers must wear seatbelts and children and vulnerable visitors must be accompanied by a suitable adult. The National Emergency Services Museum can only provide this service on specific days due to traffic congestion and road safety. Genuine vehicle sirens cannot be used during our rides hence the use of our realistic imitation sirens. The average time of each experience ride is around 3-5 minutes. However this will vary depending on traffic and road conditions.

All fire engine ride experiences are weather dependent and safety of our visitors and staff come first. Museum events may result in the days and times of the ride experiences altering so please refer to event information.
