Fire engine ride experience...

Make your visit extra special by experiencing a ride in one of our functional fire engines. Climb aboard and get a feel for what it’s like for firefighters attending an incident! Grab your helmet and experience our imitation sirens as the engine leaves the museum’s cobbled yard and makes its way around the streets of Sheffield.

Saturday & Sunday (unless stated otherwise)

11:00, 13:00 and 15:00

Birthday parties...

Explore, discover, learn, play and celebrate your big day at NESM! Birthday parties at NESM allow museum access with a dedicated party room available from 10:00 - 12:30 or 13:00 - 15:30 on weekends and school holidays.

Fire your imagination and get hands-on with history as we encourage visitors to climb aboard, try on uniforms and handle equipment used.

Due to the age of the building access into and around some areas can be limited. NESM uses lights, sounds, smoke and smells to bring history to life...

Our historic building is old and can be unusually cold in some areas. Just imagine what it would have been like in the winter for prisoners who would have occupied our cells.

Did you know the NESM is a charity? This means that UK taxpayers can make a massive difference to charities like us!

As a massive THANK YOU to all our Emergency Services for their ongoing support with donations of equipment, stories and more we allow 999 Staff FREE entry...

NESM is housed in the former combined Police, Fire Station on West Bar in Sheffield. Just off of the inner ring road, near the Law Courts.

Our Coffee Shop is the perfect place to stop for a drink and a light snack. Looking for a little gift to remember your visit then stop and look in our Gift Shop...
