Roadworks and improvements

If you’re visiting the museum, you’ll notice roadworks and many other changes happening around our historic building. This is due to a major regeneration project that will improve the area around the museum at West Bar, including improving access into the museum itself.

Find out more about the full project developing the links between Neepsend, Kelham and the City Centre: https://connectingsheffield.commonplace.is/en-GB/proposals/neepsend-kelham-city-centre/start

Access into the museum itself should not be affected during our normal opening hours. If we have to close for any reason, we will always keep our social media up-to-date. Visitors can also use the museum's online ticket bookings to see when we are open.

As always roadworks can cause issues but please note access to nearby car parks, bus stops etc are signposted if an alternative route is required.

What’s changing?

Once complete the new, much wider pedestrian friendly frontage to the museum will make the museum more accessible to all. Planting and flood defences will assist with providing a home for local wildlife and prevent issues around flooding.
